2011-2012 French Club Calendar
le cercle francais de Penns Manor
Bienvenue/bon retour au Cercle Francais! Below is a list of activities that French Club plans throughout the year.
Most activities are held during monthly Activity Period meetings.
October 5:
French breakfast; students make pain aux chocolats and have a typical French breakfast of croissants, nutella, fruit, pain au chocolat, juice, and hot chocolate.
November 7-11:
National French Week; students will read morning announcements in French, sample French dishes at lunch, have a vocabulary/scavenger hunt contest, and raffle for a prize basket of French prizes, candy, and French Club T-shirts. It will also include a "Wear something French" day.
November 30:
Students will celebrate French Christmas by decorating the class Christmas tree in the traditional French style.
December 21:
Students will compete in a Yule log baking and tasting contest. Yule logs will be judged on appearance and taste... everyone can also try samples of all of the Yule logs.
February 8:
Students will participate in the French holiday, La Chandeleur, by preparing crepes.
February 29:
Students will celebrate mardi gras (2/21/12) by creating mardi gras masks, eating King Cake, and other typical foods served at mardi gras, such as jambayla and gumbo. One girl will be crowned the queen of mardi gras and one boy will be crowned king.
Other planned events:
Fundraiser - kiss a senior goodbye - underclassmen, teachers, or other seniors can send a goodbye message to their favorite seniors before they leave Penns Manor. Messages come with a bag of Hershey Kisses.
The Penns Manor French club is always ready to welcome new members.
If you are interested and meet the criteria, contact Madame Gilmore to find out more!
