Our students were busy exploring all things apples! They learned about Johnny Appleseed, discovered the life cycle of an apple, taste-tested red, yellow, and green apples, sequenced the steps for making applesauce, and so much more! 🍎📚🥄

OpenGate Detection System Community Preview
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors, the school district invites parents and students to stop by and view our new OpenGate Detection System during the JV and Varsity Volleyball Games on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
The OpenGate Detection System will be on display in the high school lobby, providing an opportunity for families and students to see firsthand how the walk-through screening technology works before it is implemented. Representatives will be available to answer questions and demonstrate the screening process.
We encourage everyone attending the volleyball games to take a few moments to visit the display, learn about the system, and see how this new technology will help enhance safety while maintaining a welcoming and efficient entry experience for students, staff, and visitors.
We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your support as we continue to strengthen the safety and security of our schools.

Students will submit a short message explaining why they say no to drugs, opioids, alcohol, tobacco, or vaping. Their responses can focus on their goals, role models, health, values, or anything else that inspires them to make positive choices.
Two students from each Indiana County school district will be selected as winners. Each winning student will have the opportunity to choose either a life-size cutout of themselves or a banner featuring their image and quote to display at their school as a positive message and source of inspiration for their peers.

This Friday, September 18th, our Penns Manor Elementary students will be walking through the stands during the Varsity Football game against Homer-Center to collect money. Every coin/dollar counts toward helping us buy stockings and supplies for local homeless veterans. ❤️🇺🇸
When you see our students coming around, be ready to drop your change and cheer them on!

The Comets opened their season last Wednesday, September 9, at Homer-Center High School against Homer-Center and Marion Center. Many of our runners finished between 2nd and 10th place in their races! 🎉👏
